Equal Treatment
So, there are those of you who think because of President Barack Obama's election to office that our country has come a long way? Really? Let me map out that trip for you.
For the eight years that George W. Bush was our president, the Democrats, liberal talk show hosts and the late-night comics did nothing but criticize and ridicule George W. Bush. They went out of their way to make fun of him and try to derail everything he did.
But now we are supposed to have a spirit of bipartisanship? We are supposed to just go along with everything Obama says and does without question? After all, as he and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi says, "we won the election!" This is what the Democrats believed when Bush won two elections, right?
It was fine when the MSNBC commentators ridiculed Bush. It was fine when former Clinton staffer Paul Begala called Bush a "functioning moron." Now the Republicans have to put that kind of stuff behind them. Rush Limbaugh criticizes Obama, and he's a racist.
So in reality, that trip you thought our country made wasn't so long. Here's my promise: I will be as supportive and uncritical towards Obama and the Democrats as they were to Bush.

Freedom of Choice Act
President Barack Obama, in his election bid, intimated to Americans that he would try to make abortion rare in his presidency. Yet, in his first week in office he showed his real intentions, and now we are faced with the Freedom of Choice Act.
This is a bill brought to Congress by Rep. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., that would end the ban on partial-birth abortion, let minors receive an abortion without parental consent, compel taxpayers to fund abortions and also provide abortions in military hospitals. It will force religious-funded hospitals and health care institutions to perform abortions in violation of their convictions.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., thinks this will solve some of the economic problems we are faced with. Maybe if she saw a 14-year-old girl being pressured to have an abortion, then having to live with the guilt of her actions, she might change her mind.
Throughout history, it has been shown some of the most famous people have come from broken homes, were rape victims or products of incest. How do we have the right to play God? Why not help our children and women with their problems instead of making them the scapegoats of society.
Obama signed this bill. Let's let our elected officials know how we feel.

Should I Chance It?
Here I am a devoted player of eight games of Lotto, Fantasy, Mega Money, Cash 3 and Cash 4 and along comes Power Ball, which I can't wait seven days a week for the results every night, when they come.
If I keep playing, I don't know which number to look for first, or even which game I didn't play, until Sunday comes along I get the whole week of my chance, or should I say ship might have come in.
My chance, which I feel may never come in for me and also for you. Oh, I forgot Publishers Clearing House. I get five to six letters a week for a chance with them, but come Saturday their mail stops coming. I stop and think for the moment that they are telling me to "go back to your household cleaning and garden. They need you more."
Maybe we should all stop our chance. It's a dream we all dream, but we can chance forever dreaming about it? I do.
