Child Struck With Wooden Giraffe
SPRING HILL A woman was jailed Saturday on allegations that she struck a child with a decorative wooden giraffe.
The suspect, Cherretta Beechum, 38, told deputies that she returned home from work to find the victim playing with her children. She told her kids to stop playing with the victim because he's always getting them into trouble, according to a report.
The 16-year-old victim took offense at this statement and began arguing with Beechum, prompting her to strike the victim in the back with a wooden giraffe she was holding, a report states.
Beechum was charged with child abuse.
88-year-old Beaten By Grandson
SPRING HILL Deputies say an 88-year-old man was beaten by his grandson on Thursday.
The victim's guardian grew suspicious and removed the man from his home for a doctor's examination. The doctor concluded that the bruises on the man's body indicated he had been struck on numerous occasions.
The victim was hesitant to identify his grandson, Shawn Rayburn, as the suspect, but he eventually admitted that Rayburn frequently punched and kicked him during arguments, a report states.
Rayburn, 25, reportedly told deputies he only grabbed the victim's arms when his grandfather was hitting him with a cane. He couldn't explain the bruises and was charged with battery on a person over the age of 65.
Woman's Hand Run Over By Boyfriend's Vehicle
SPRING HILL A woman was treated for multiple injuries Saturday after her boyfriend ran over her hand with his sport utility vehicle.
A deputy arriving at the home to investigate a possible battery said he found the couple wrapped in a bear hug in the front yard. The suspect, Patrick Stitzel, said he was just trying to protect the victim from a nearby raccoon, a report shows.
The deputy was not convinced and when he questioned the victim, she told him that Stitzel had thrown her to the ground during an argument and ran over her wrist with his Chevy Blazer, a report shows.
Stitzel, 39, was charged with aggravated battery and violating an injunction. The victim's wrist was not fractured, but she did receive multiple contusions and lacerations on her body, a report states.
Shoplifter Blames Her Adrenaline
BROOKSVILLE A suspected shoplifter blamed her adrenaline for getting her into trouble on Friday.
The suspect, Luz Osorio, 20, was stopped by Wal-Mart staff as she walked out of the store on Cortez Boulevard with women's clothes, according to a report.
As she was given a citation for retail theft, Osorio reportedly told the deputy "my adrenaline got the best of me."
