The Florida Highway Patrol reported two serious traffic crashes in the county Thursday, including the death of a woman who walked in front of an oncoming car.
The victim, 33-year-old Sonjie Paul, of Brooksville, walked west across the southbound lanes of U.S. 41 around 4 a.m. and into the path of a southbound Chevy, according to a report.
She received critical injuries from the resulting crash and died at Brooksville Regional Hospital. The Chevy's driver was not injured.
Also Thursday, at 1:30 a.m., an 18-year-old woman was seriously injured in a single-car crash on Mariner Boulevard.
Erin Nicole Robinson was driving north on Mariner when she drifted off the road. Robinson overcorrected and began to spin into the southbound lanes, where she overturned and sustained serious injuries, a report states.
