With the writing of this letter, it is a couple of days until Christmas and while this is suppose to be a season of joy, I am disturbed by the outright bigotry of those who use this time to mock and even denounce Christianity.
I am, of course, talking about the atheists and their allies.
Personally speaking, I am not what you would call an overly religious man. I am not a regular church-goer, and I also believe in evolution. That being said, I am deeply offended by the atheist groups who have recently been putting up signs across the country that mock those who believe in God and deride Christmas.
If I put up signs making fun of the Jewish or Muslim religion, I would be accused of committing a hate crime.
Look, I have no problem with anyone wanting to be atheist; that's their business. But obviously they are bothered by the fact that this country was founded on certain Judeo-Christian principals, and no matter how much they try to down play the writings of our Founding Fathers, they did believe in God. There is no doubt about that, and they did believe everyone should be able to practice their faith.
By the way, Christmas is a federal holiday. It is part of our culture. If atheists are so offended by Christmas, then deal with it. They are the ones who claim to be tolerant, but that, of course, is not true.
I also want to tell my Jewish, Muslim, Hindi and Buddhist friends that you too should be concerned, for soon the atheists will turn their gaze upon you once they are done with Christmas.
