Rep. Brown-Waite strikes again!

Responding to U.S. Rep. Brown-Waite's recent article in the Dec. 20 edition, it appears she is continuing her onslaught to be re-elected again to a fourth term in the U.S. Congress. She is also mailing correspondence to numerous constituents throughout her assigned district calling attention to her bid for re-election. Upon reading her article, I had to read it several times which in my opinion amounted to political psycho-babble concerning her alleged accomplishments. The only message I perceived from her article was that she continually votes lock-step in compliance with her Republican counterparts regardless of the circumstances. Again she is proclaiming an outstanding achievement as our congressional representative that she voted "No" for the proposed health reform legislation. Other than that what has Brown-Waite accomplished in her past six years in congress?

The voters should be aware that Congress raised its pay 22 times since 1789 through 1968. By 1968 the salaries had risen to $30,000. Since then an automatic annual adjustment procedure and a commission process they placed in effect. From 1968 through 2008 members of Congress continually voted themselves pay increases in the amount of $169,300 annually.

Under their proposed formula they received an additional 2.8 percent increase in January 2009, increasing their salaries to $174,000. These salaries are not inclusive of their additional perks and benefits they also connived from the taxpayers.

When will this continual rip-off of our hard-earned tax dollars finally be stopped? As I have reiterated in several previous articles the reckless spending, inefficient regulatory enforcement of our financial institutions, political corruption, violation of the principles of our Constitution and the eventual bankruptcy of our country will only come to an end when we stop re-electing the same incumbent politicians who have only their self-interests to be re-elected and hopefully reach their golden goose retirement package.

I stress this continued waste of our tax dollars and the actions of our elected officials to hopefully motivate the voters to realize that to re-elect the same incumbents will change nothing in Washington and/or our own county and state!

In further responding to Brown-Waite's article, I wonder how many times she also voted "No" when it came time for her salary increases, perks and benefits, as she most notably proclaims her "No" vote to most other congressional proposals by the Democratic-controlled Congress. We will be voting for our congressional representatives in 2010. We the voters can make the difference and hopefully elect responsible individuals to represent us regardless of party affiliations.

If you desire to re-elect Brown-Waite for her proclaimed accomplishment of voting "No" at a salary of $174,000 and other incumbent cronies, then nothing will change in Washington.
