Just thought of a great example of how important one vote is.
Monday at 1 a.m., the Senate voted to end the debate on its version of the health care bill. The Democrats needed 60 votes and they had just 60 votes. One of those votes was cast by Sen. Al Franken, a Democrat from Minnesota. There was great controversy about his election. ACORN was involved in that contest. We heard about it long after the election. There were many fictitious characters registered by ACORN to vote. We know that for a long time ACORN was in the tank for the Democrats, and ACORN was getting taxpayer dollars to support them in their efforts to register voters.
A couple of months ago, ACORN was exposed in some highly controversial activities, and Congress was so outraged, members voted to cut off funds for ACORN. Some judge has reversed that vote, but Congress should pursue an appeal.
Anyway, the point is, if ACORN had not been involved in that election, perhaps the incumbent Republican Ron Coleman would have been re-elected for that seat and subsequently the Democrats would not have had the 60 votes to shut down the debate.
The difference is only one vote, but what a difference that one vote would have made, especially since the polls show an overwhelming disapproval of this bill by the American people.
America, wake up! Take an interest in what's going on in Washington, D.C., before it is too late. Email, fax, call, write your representatives in Washington and demand no more money for ACORN and no involvement of them in any government activities!
America's freedoms, culture and heritage are far too precious to be lost because of apathy.
