An apparent electrical fire caused significant damage to a home Tuesday night, authorities said.
Hernando County Fire Rescue arrived shortly before 7:30 p.m. at 834 East St. following reports of a house fire, according to a sheriff's report.
The residents of the home, Marvin and Sandra Madrey, heard sounds that were followed by the lights going out, firefighters said.
Marvin Madrey went to the front of the home and noticed a blown fuse, according to the report.
He replaced the fuse and then noticed sparks and flames in the area where the wires enter the home, firefighters said.
The couple called 911 and evacuated the house, according to the report.
Total damage was not released, but firefighters advised the home was uninhabitable.
