A man speeding along Commercial Way was arrested Tuesday after he registered a .311 on the breathalyzer, deputies say.
Mark Allen Strong, 46, of Citronelle, Ala., nearly quadrupled the legal limit of .08, according to an arrest report.
Strong was traveling 70 mph in his pickup shortly before 5 p.m., deputies said. The speed limit for that stretch of U.S. 19 is 60 mph.
A deputy asked Strong to get out of his vehicle after he saw him fumble through his documents and stare at them, according to the report.
The deputy stated he also noticed Strong's face was flushed and could smell alcohol on him.
Strong failed field sobriety tests and eventually admitted to drinking an unspecified amount of beer, deputies said.
His bond was set at $500.
