First person files for Spring Hill Fire

The first candidate has stepped forward to run for Spring Hill fire commissioner in 2010.

Sherry Adler, of Tilburg Street in Spring Hill, pre-qualified with the supervisor of elections office on Wednesday.

Adler, 65, said she wants to bring better oversight to district finances, equipment and the overall organization. She also wants to bring more professionalism to meetings.

"If they were a board that accomplishes things, that would be great," said Adler, who has lived in Spring Hill for four years. "However, they are a board that doesn't do anything but fight and bicker and provide cheap entertainment."

Adler said she has no prior political experience. She is a Hospice volunteer who retired from a private mailing business, she said.

There are two seats open on the non-partisan fire board next year. The four-year terms of Commissioners Leo Jacobs and Gene Panozzo will expire.
