Council elects new leadership

City - council members unanimously elected Lara Bradburn as the new mayor of Brooksville, replacing Councilman Joe Bernardini. Councilman Richard Lewis was also unanimously elected as vice mayor.

During Monday's council meeting, council members began with selecting new city leadership with Councilman David Pugh nominating Bradburn and Lewis for each seat.

Following the unanimous vote, Bradburn was met with applause from audience members. Bernardini smiled and changed seats with Bradburn, asking only that she still let him talk later in the meeting even though he's no longer mayor.

Bradburn thanked council members and said she looks forward to serving the community in her new capacity.

"This city has come a long way in the past three years," Bradburn said. "I hope to see that continued progress."
