An intoxicated man was arrested Monday after he pulled a knife on his wife and threatened her, deputies said.
John William Lee Parsons, 46, of the 16100 block of Sarasota St. was charged with aggravated assault and was taken to the Hernando County Jail. No bond was issued.
The Hernando County Sheriff's Office was dispatched shortly after 5:30 p.m. to the home and responding deputies noticed two women standing outside, according to an arrest report.
The victim told authorities her husband began arguing with her 19-year-old daughter, at which time she got out of bed and confronted him, deputies said.
When she asked Parsons why he was drinking, he replied, "because I can drink," according to the report.
After that, he pulled a knife from his pocket, opened the blade, cursed at her and threatened to cut her, deputies said.
Both the victim and her daughter went outside and the latter called 911, according to the report.
Parsons was still drunk when deputies arrived and a small black folding knife was found in his pants pocket, according to the sheriff's office.
