Two men were arrested on drug possession charges following a verbal altercation at a gas station, deputies said.
One of those men, James J. McQuilkin, 36, of Inverness, also was charged with giving false information when he gave authorities a phony name, according to an arrest report.
McQuilkin and Thomas S. Barton, 46, of Port Richey, were involved in an argument shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday at the Mobil station at 4275 Mariner Blvd., deputies said.
Authorities arrived after employees contacted the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, according to the report.
Methamphetamine was found in Barton's pocket and oxycodone and methamphetamine was discovered in McQuilkin's toolbox, deputies said.
Additionally, deputies recovered hypodermic needles, two plastic jars, two glass pipes, a blow torch and a large silver spoon, all of which contained residue that tested positive for meth, according to the report.
In addition to the giving false information charge, McQuilkin also was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $23,500.
Barton was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession and-or sale of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond amount was $12,500.
