At the first budget hearing two weeks ago, only 10 citizens offered comments and the proceedings concluded in just over one hour.
The second hearing set for 5:01 p.m. Thursday at the Hernando County Government Center, 20 North Main St. in downtown Brooksville.
At that meeting, county commissioners will adopt a final millage rate and budget.
Two weeks ago, commissioners adopted a tentative millage rate of 6.32 mills, the same as last year and a tentative balanced budget of $384.5 million.
A mill is a tax rate on property based on $1 per $1,000 of assessed property value. For example, a property worth $150,000 with a $50,000 homestead exemption would have a county tax bill of $632.
On Thursday, commissioners will formally adopt the rate and the budget. The final adopted budget for fiscal year 2009 becomes effective Oct. 1.
