Polio Benefit Is Sunday

Local Rotarians are organizing a classical music concert to raise money for polio-endemic countries.

Music for Life will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at Nativity Lutheran Church of Weeki Wachee, located at 6363 Commercial Way.

Tickets will cost $10 each. The proceeds will go toward the Rotary PolioPlus program.

Spring Hill and Brooksville Rotarians hope to raise $1,000 during the next three years. Sunday's concert is their first fundraiser.

Mark From The Arc Will 'Tri' Again

Mark Barry, executive director of the Arc Nature Coast, is competing in his third Florida Challenge Triathlon. Barry competes in the event to raise money for the Arc, a United Fund charitable organization that assists citizens with developmental disabilities who live in Hernando County. Barry will swim 1.2 miles, cycle 56 miles and run 13.1 for a total distance of 70.3 miles.

The triathlon will be held in Clermont near Orlando on Saturday, Oct. 25. The Arc is currently accepting sponsorship donations to support Barry's effort. One hundred percent of all donations will benefit the Arc's scholarship fund.
