Giving Praise For

A Great Election Year

Thank you, Commissioners John Druzbick, James Adkins and Rose Rocco and Annie Williams, James Yant and Bob Haa.

Now that the campaign is over, we can all rest much easier. After days, weeks and nights on the road waving signs, putting up signs and replacing signs that were taken down or stolen, and handing out literature and attending forums and helping with radio ads, it's time to take a long weekend off before getting back out there and picking signs back up and storing them in a safe place until next election.

I would like to take this time to say thank you to the wives of Commissioners Druzbick and Adkins and School Board Member Yant for putting up with me calling all hours, days and nights, to keep informed of the next day's plans.

I would like to thank Commissioner Druzbick and his wife, Debbie, and their daughter, and Commissioner Adkins and his wife, Clara, for allowing me to be part of their elections and helping them get elected to office.

It's great to have two new commissioners come on board this election.

I would like to take this time to thank the voters of Hernando County for helping make this change in the Board of Hernando County Commissioners; and most of all, as our pastor, the Rev. Joe Sims, from the Aripeka First Baptist Church puts it, nothing can happen without our Lord and Jesus Christ, so we give him all the praise and glory for this election year.

I would like to say thank you for re-electing Williams back to the supervisor of elections office for another four years. And I would like to say thank you for re-electing our sheriff, Richard Nugent, back to another four-year term. Also, thank you for re-electing our very fine congresswoman, U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite, back to another four-year term and returning her back to her seat in Congress.

I would like to say thank you to Commissioners Adkins and Rocco and radio host Bob Haa of Haa Wire on WWJB 1450 AM in Brooksville for allowing me to be able to work with them in the Veterans Day parade on Saturday, Nov. 8, because it meant so much to me. My father was a veteran before he passed on May 3, 1997. I would like to thank Williams for allowing me to be part of her re-election campaign team to help her get re-elected. And I would like to thank you for electing James Yant to the School Board of Hernando County.

I would like to close by saying thank you to Lorenzo Hamilton for telling me how well I do things throughout the year. He makes me feel good about myself when he calls me and says thank you.

I want to thank my pastor, Joe Sims, for giving me words of wisdom and praying with me at least twice a week. And I want to thank the Lord for giving me the health and for keeping me healthy to do the things I want to do to help others. Thank you, Lord.

No Sense Of Humor

In response to your article on Nov. 19 regarding Linda Hayward: How mature is it to bring a broom without a handle to official meetings?

By the way, where did she stick the handle? Maybe the same place she put her sense of humor.
