A suspected shoplifter was arrested Tuesday with enough ill-gotten prescription pills in her purse to warrant a drug trafficking charge, a report shows.
Loss prevention staff at the Wal-Mart on U.S. 19 told a deputy that they saw Becky Teaford, 25, take advantage of the self-checkout to skip paying for several items, a report shows.
Teaford told a deputy that she stole some of the items because she was having financial difficulties, but she couldn't explain why she bought a car stereo, a report shows.
Following her arrest on a shoplifting charge, the deputy searched her purse and said he found a prescription pill bottle holding 60 30 mg oxycodone tablets, along with seven alprazolam tablets.
Teaford was additionally charged with trafficking in drugs, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.
