Boo-Hoo-Hoo
Now we have "Daddy" (Chris Kingsley) crying to the newspaper and referring to people who wrote letters against his daughter's letter as "whackos."
I guess the truth hurts.
You need to get a life and stop crying.

Beacon Of Light
Lately, all we've seen in the papers, on television, the Internet, etc. has been the presidential race, political backstabbing, murders, robberies and other bad news. It's time for something positive and lighthearted for human interest to be published.
On Halloween night, the Christian Church at Spring Hill held a community event called "Trunk or Treat." We wanted to provide a fun night and safe alternative to door-to-door trick-or-treating.
We were thrilled to have a turnout of more than 300 kids and parents attend the two-hour event where they were given candy from the automobile trunks, hot dogs, punch, etc.
Many of the children had never "bobbed for apples" - a big hit with the kids! One little girl was so enthusiastic that she stuck her entire head into the water! But, she got an apple. These kids loved the wholesome, innocent activities and all the free food and candy.
And the most amazing thing? Every single child was mannerly, well-behaved and many thanked us for what we did. One little boy, who was about 10 years old, actually hugged me, thanked me and asked if we would do it again next year. There was no rowdiness or bad behavior. Every single person, child and adult threw their cups and paper waste into the trash can. It was very refreshing to see so many well-behaved and respectful children in our community.
Our church is big on outreach to the community. In these troubling times, we all need to reach out to our neighbors and show love and kindness. We want our little church to be a beacon of light reflecting God's love, and hopefully these children and parents felt that love by our efforts last Friday night.

Still Looking
What are we looking for?
A president who is honest and dedicated to his responsibilities and the people he is working for (us) - kind and compassionate and tough when he needs to be, with no exceptions.
No discrimination against race, wealthy, poor or in between. He is fair and determined to do right by everyone - no matter what the cost.
Wow! Someone was really dreaming when they wrote the script for this character.
Would the real "Herachio Cane" please stand up!

History Lesson
Re: Gail B. Leatherwood's Feedback letter, "Let's Fight The Real War" in the Nov. 12 edition of Hernando Today.
While I agree with Leatherwood's statement that our real concern is "radical Islam." I do have to disagree with his analysis of history.
The crusades were never designed to impose Christianity on the world by force. Their intent was to reclaim areas including Palestine or Israel from the Muslims that had conquered all of northern Africa, all of the Middle East, all of the Balkans and large areas of Spain in the name of Islam.
And, yes, in some places these crusades did commit atrocities. However, so had the Muslim conquerors.
Let me emphasize, though, two wrongs never make a right!
Unfortunately, the "radical Islam" that Leatherwood suggests we seek out and destroy is being funded by the Moslem, middle-eastern countries, some of which pretend to be our allies!
