Irate Man Shocked With Stun Gun, Arrested
BROOKSVILLE - A man who loudly voiced his intentions not to go back to jail wound up there anyway Monday on two misdemeanor charges.
Deputies were at 20087 Oakdale Ave. around 4 p.m. to investigate an argument when they heard the suspect "yelling at the top of his lungs" that he wasn't going to go back to jail, a report states.
Deputy Wayne Peterson and his sergeant confronted the suspect, Justin McDaniel, 21, inside his home, where he told deputies to kill him, a report states.
The sergeant tried calming McDaniel down but the suspect announced he was going to his room to get a gun and kill the deputies, a report states.
Peterson used his stun gun to shock McDaniel, but it still took both deputies to pin the suspect to the wall and arrest him on charges of assault on an officer and resisting arrest without violence, a report states.
Son In Car When Suspected Drunk Mom Crashes, Police Say
BROOKSVILLE - A suspected drunk driver with her 2-year-old son riding as a passenger sideswiped a car and struck a motorcyclist head-on Monday evening on Cobb Road, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.
Emily Santiago, 34, of Lake City, was driving south near Old Cobb Road around 6:20 p.m. when she drifted into the northbound lane and struck the car and then the motorcycle, troopers say.
The motorcycle erupted into flames and its driver, Allan Greiner, 51, of Brooksville, was thrown from the bike. Greiner was flown to St. Joseph's Hospital in serious condition, FHP reports. The suspect and her son were not injured. The person in the other car, Julio Cervantes, 49, of Masaryktown, received minor injuries, a report states.
Santiago was charged with DUI, four counts DUI with property damage and injury, child abuse and driving on a suspended or revoked license.
Fueling Job Search Lands Man In Jail
BROOKSVILLE - A man caught siphoning gas from trucks at a construction business told deputies he was just trying to get a couple of gallons so he could look for a job, a report shows.
Deputy Shawn Liebler said he was on patrol on Broad Street around 3 a.m. Monday when he spotted a pickup truck backed up to the front of Centerline Construction at 4002 Broad St.
A woman in the truck, Kristina Walton, 25, of Hudson, initially told Liebler she wasn't feeling well so she pulled over, but later admitted she was acting as a lookout, a report shows.
Deputies found the truck's registered owner, Noah Peszel, inside the fenced-in compound siphoning gas out of a box truck, a report states. Peszel, 24, of Hudson, was charged with commercial burglary, Walton as an accomplice.
