Pave Bailey Hill Road
As a resident of the Bailey Hill Road area, I am becoming increasingly concerned that Bailey Hill Road will never get paved. An MSBU was informally asked for, but we were told by the county "why pave it under the MSBU when it will be paved with impact fee money." Time has passed and we still see no progress in it being paved.
I have seen little to justify or benefit me for the almost $10,000 impact fee payment we made. I understand that the Hernando County citizens can't pave all the limerock roads, but Bailey Hill Road is a much traveled collector road. Growth in the area and making Bailey Hill Road an overpass for the Suncoast Parkway in 2001 has contributed to its increase use.
Excessive speed and increased usage have created some of the worse washboard conditions we have ever experienced. It's also a dust cloud most of the time by the continuous use. When it finally rains, the county gets the chance to grade it, but within a day or two, it returns to a dusty and bumpy road from excessive use.
I have read and heard some say "was it paved when you moved there," even by ranking county officials who moved to residences on limerock roads that are now paved.
This is a copout.
We would all still be living in caves (or on limerock roads) if that was the case. I'm sure I speak for most of the residents of the Bailey Hill Road area, we need solid progress towards paving Bailey Hill Road and extending the paving to Sunshine Grove Road before any impact fee money or other monies are appropriated towards other county projects.
For those of you that live in the Bailey Hill Road area who wish to organize to get Bailey Hill Road paved, I am willing to assist.

Dial 1 For English
Pardon my redundancy if I quote the great philosopher George Santayana (1863-1952) when he said, "Those who do not know history are bound to repeat it."
Perhaps the history we should not forget is the building of the tower of Babel (Gen 11:1-9). At that time, the people were ordered to build a temple on the plain of Shinar in Babylonia. The temple was intended to lead directly to Heaven, but their presumption angered Jehovah and he interrupted them, causing them to speak different languages so they could no longer communicate. While they spoke one language, they were able to work together, but not understanding each other caused total chaos.
Basically, the same thing happened when President Clinton signed Executive Order 13166 allowing more than 320 languages spoken in the U.S. today, and it is causing taxpayers billions of dollars every year.
Currently, voting ballots are printed in 28 languages. Driver's license exams are administered in 43 languages, and census instruction guides are printed in 50 languages.
Multilingualism services have overwhelmed hospitals and other institutions that need translators who are paid $18 to $20 and hour, costing more than $265 million every year.
If you enjoy dialing 1 for English and witnessing demonstrations of people parading with the flags of their own country and making outrageous, costly demands, you can be content with those actions that separate rather than unite the people of the United States.
Being bilingual is a wonderful thing, but having 320 official languages is just too ridiculous - thanks to Bill Clinton and Executive Order 13166.

Democrats Have No Answers
Hernando Today has every right to print the loopy columns of Ted Rall and Frances Earl. It truly provides insight into the hateful minds of those on the left and what terrible trouble this country will face once the far left gains full control of this country.
Case in point, Ms. Earl's recent column which was full of half-truths; it's truly laughable. She tells you that U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite, R-Brooksville, voted against a G.I. Bill she co-sponsored. But what Ms. Earl does not tell you is why our congresswoman ended up voting against the bill. The reason is that a .5 percent tax attached to the bill would be paid by people with incomes of $500,000 or more annually. That might not seem like much to most people including myself, but Ms. Brown-Waite believes that taxing people during rough economic times is a bad idea. It might cost her votes in the end, but that's what she believes. She is a rare breed, a person of principal. She does what she believes is right, not what is popular.
Ms. Earl then continues by turning her attention on Sen. John McCain and the Rev. Hagee. Again, Ms. Earl leaves out the fact that McCain has disavowed Hagee, and that Hagee has taken back his endorsement of McCain.
Ms. Earl refers to President Bush as "A.W.O.L. Dubya," but at least he didn't protest against our troops in Vietnam, like Clinton when he was at school in England or bad-mouth the soldiers. Democrats like Frances Earl and those in Congress have no answers. Oh, they will talk a big game about how they care about the military and about oil prices and various other things. In 2006, they said how they were going to fix everything and end the war in Iraq. And have they? The answer is no. They had no intention of doing anything. They just wanted the power back to get revenge for the 2000 election. And once they do get control of the White House, then you will see even more spending, more taxes and still nothing will get done.
