Volunteers Needed For Bingo, Crimewatch

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

Nazdar,

Volunteers are needed for two community activities. Citizens are needed to assist with an already successful community fundraiser - Bingo. If you do not want to work the games, there are other areas in which you can use your time. For more information, call a board member or Chuck Premorel at 352-397-3351. The other area needing volunteers is the Crime Watch program. According to those in law enforcement, the rise of crime in this area is alarming. Surrounding areas on three sides have Crime Watch, so that leaves the criminals who are brave enough to come here with their gangs, etc. No, you do not have to apprehend these troublemakers; the law is there for that. It makes it difficult for these criminals to do their work when they are being watched by everyone in our town, so stay tuned for more details about the next meeting or call Mona Premorel at 352-397-3351.

Eighty-eight is great for Virginia Ver

Last Wednesday, May 21, one of our longtime residents, Virginia Ver, had a birthday. She is 88 years old, and just like the Energizer Bunny, she keeps going and going. Her family came to help her celebrate - from Fort Lauderdale came her brother Al Castillo Sr. and wife Bertha, from Naples came her niece Jenny and her husband Ed Wentzel. They all went to Papa Joe's for a fine Italian dinner. The next day, May 22, her nephew Al Castillo Jr. and his fiancee came from West Palm Beach. All stayed a few days and had a grand time. God Bless you with many more.

Jason Christopher Havens came down from Jackson, N.J. with his parents Robert and Christine Havens to visit grandmother Helen Havens for Mother's Day. Last Sunday at the home of his aunt Helen Parsolano and her daughters Stephanie and Rebecca, together with David Marcum, hosted a party for Jordan, who celebrated his fifth birthday at home in New Jersey. Helen Havens and everyone attending enjoyed barbecue, side dishes and a special cake. All had a super visit.

Coincidentally ...

This is a coincidence: Elizabeth Smith and Magdalena Kelsimidis have been waitresses for 12 years at the Harmony House Family Restaurant. Their grandchildren, 3-year-old Anna Smith and 2-year-old Peter Kelsimidis, celebrated their birthdays on May 27. So today, owners Pete and Marianna Mandreanu will host a party at the restaurant, with Pete making a very special cake.

Chet and Jeanne Pilnicki have returned after a three-day visit to Forsyth, Ga. They visited with Chet's son Scott, his wife Cindy and children Zack and Shelby. They saw some of the ruins left behind from the hurricane that went through Macon.

Mostly, they relaxed poolside and all enjoyed the visit.
