BROOKSVILLE - Richard Butts, a Brooksville insurance and real estate agent who filed last month to run for county property appraiser, has changed his mind.
Butts said Thursday that he withdrew from the race because he realized he isn't able to commit the time needed to secure the petitions to get on the ballot and, after that, to campaign for the office.
His departure leaves incumbent Alvin Mazourek without a challenger. Mazourek has held the position since 1997.
