BROOKSVILLE - A sheriff's dispatcher was fired Friday following her arrest on a charge of DUI.
Amanda M. Hurley, who turned 29 on Friday, was pulled over by the Florida Highway Patrol at U.S. 19 and Northcliffe Boulevard around 1 a.m. for reportedly speeding. No other details were immediately available.
Hurley would have completed her one year probationary period as a telecommunicator I on July 16. In a brief memo officially terminating her employment, Sheriff Richard Nugent states that her arrest, combined with the fact that Hurley was smoking, are both policy violations and grounds for firing.
