Karol F. Uczen, 91, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, June 10, at Heron Ponte Nursing Home. He was born in Chicago, Ill., and moved to this area 23 years ago.
Mr. Uczen was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served as staff sergeant for five years. He was an apprentice in a four-year program to learn the precision of making surgical instruments. He worked in that profession at V. Mueller Co. in Chicago for 32 years as supervisor. He was active in the VFW and DAV 67.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda; a daughter, Carolyn; a stepson, Andrew; and six grandchildren.

Eleanor A. Schmidt, 83, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, June 11, at Bayonet Point Health and Rehab Center, Hudson. She was born in Bronx, N.Y., and moved to Florida 36 years ago.
Mrs. Schmidt was a member of Gulf View Grace Brethren Church, Port Richey.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Schmidt of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., and Richard Schmidt of New Port Richey; two daughters, Joan Goodwin of Snelleville, Ga., and Linda Campos of Spring Hill; a brother, Joseph Kastner of Owasso, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
