Gas Prices Could Reach Their Peak

TAMPA - The U.S. dollar is strengthening.

And with that, the record-setting gas prices in Florida and across the country could stall, according to AAA Auto Club South.

Last week, the U.S. Department of Energy stated there was a report of a drop in crude oil and gasoline inventories, yet refinery output remained high at nearly 88 percent.

Even still, the national average price for a regular gallon of gasoline rose to more than $3.97, inching closer to the dreaded $4 mark.

Florida's average is at $3.96.

One year ago, consumers bought gas at an average of less than $3.10 per gallon.
