If Dems Cared, They Would Have Done Something

After reading Ms. Earl's recent column, I have come to the conclusion that she truly lives in a Bizarro World.

Ms. Earl blames President Bush for our energy problems and yet, for the longest times since the 1970s, it has been her party that has blocked us from drilling for more oil. We went from importing 24 percent foreign oil to nearly 70 percent during the 1990s. According to Ms. Earl, we can't have oil, we can't have coal, we can't have nuclear and we can't have wind. According to her, the answer is solar, but the problem with solar power is that in many cases the technology for solar energy makes it impractical and expensive.

Ms. Earl repeats the same mantra from the left about the oil rigs that were destroyed by Katrina. That was 114 out of 4,000. That is 2.85 percent of all gas and oil rigs in the gulf. Yes, there was environmental damage, but it was remarkably minimal due to the circumstances. Ms. Earl and her cronies would have you believe it was far worse than it was.

Ms. Earl also tells you that Republicans are for the rich, but guess what? When you look at the congressional districts, who represents the richest districts? The Democrats. Nancy Pelosi, in fact, represents the wealthiest district in the country. Republicans, as odd it might sound to some, represent some of the poorer districts in the country. One only has to look to see who the wealthiest people in Congress are and you will see that it is the Democrats. You have Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer of California and Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia to name a few.

Ms. Earl and the rest of the Democrats are not looking out for you. She wants you to pay more for gasoline so we save the environment. Of course, she doesn't care that you have to pay more for food or about you losing your job. If she and her fellow Democrats did care about working people, they would have done something by now. But guess what? They don't.
