BROOKSVILLE - Deputies seized a combined 3 1/2 ounces of marijuana on Monday, including 29 grams from two students at Hernando High School.
Reports show Rickell Love and Daynea Taylor, both 17, were arrested around 11 a.m. after the school resource officer found them with the drugs in the campus theater.
Deputy Bill Pope was acting on a school administrator's belief that the two were in possession of the drug, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office said Tuesday.
Indeed they were, according to a report, and the nearly 30 grams of pot found in plastic bags was individually packaged for sale.
Both students are accused of possession of marijuana, a charge that is enhanced because it was found on school property.
But there was more to be found in Spring Hill.
Three hours earlier, Deputy Dustin Mormando pulled up to 3436 Chadwick Ave. to investigate a physical disturbance.
Three women were outside on the driveway yelling at a man, which the deputy presumed was his suspect.
That man, identified later as Scott Thomas, broke into a run when Mormando approached him but he only got as far the backyard fence, a report states.
That's when Thomas tossed a bag into the bushes and attempted to walk by the deputy. Mormando said he pushed the suspect onto the ground, cuffed him and secured him in the back of a cruiser.
The three women standing outside were Thomas' mother and two sisters, who told Mormando they hid Thomas' marijuana after he came home Sunday night.
Thomas was at work the next morning when his girlfriend called to tell him what had happened with his pot. He returned home at 8:30 a.m. and went on a rampage, trashing the house and pushing the three women, Mormando reported.
For that incident, he was charged with three counts of domestic battery. The bag that 24-year-old Thomas tossed into the bushes contained 70 grams of marijuana, reports show, and a search of his pockets turned up 75 pills of prescription Xanax and $1,335 cash.
He was further charged with possession of marijuana and a controlled substance.
Finally, a traffic stop in the area of Lelani and Peaceful roads in north Hernando County turned up two loaded guns and a small amount of marijuana.
Deputy Brian McGinnis said he found a 30-30 Winchester rifle and a H&R .22 pistol "fully loaded" and "readily accessible" in the cab of a pickup belonging to Perry Roberts.
A report states that a plastic bag with .02 grams of marijuana was under the seat and a pipe for smoking methamphetamine was in plain view on the floorboard.
Roberts, 31, of Center Hill, Fla., was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and for the drugs and paraphernalia.
