Nazdar,

The first Sweetheart Dance, sponsored by the Masaryktown Activities Club on Feb. 15, was a success. When folks don't want to go home and want to know when the next one is scheduled - you know it was successful. Approximately 120 folks enjoyed dancing, music for all ages by the deejays Vintage, who are Nick and Rusty. The can be reached at 352-592-9651 for Nick or 352-684-0695 for Rusty. Sweetheart photos were taken by Danunzio Films - Wayne and brother David Danunzio who can be reached at 352-428-8077. Both groups did a superb job. Big "thank yous" to all who attended and to Gladys Badowski, Susan Compton, our BP Store "Richie Rich," Sandra Roach, Becky Evans, Melanie Olson-Arsenault, Dian Stokey, Niki Levesque, and all others who helped set up, take down, shopped, decorated, cleaned, and all the other areas that it took to make this so notable and successful of a dance.

Not to forget deadline for applying for a scholarship is almost here - March 1. Needed is a letter requesting an application form, a SASE, to be sent to Masaryktown Community Center, P.O. Box 9280, Masaryktown, Fla. 34604 ATTN: Scholarship Committee or Linda Lovelady.

Also getting close is the big Tomas Garrigue Masaryk birthday dinner on March 9. Masaryk was born on March 7, 1850. Serving starts at 11:30 a.m. with baked, marinated chicken with all the trimmings or klobasy and sauerkraut with all the trimmings, both served with poppy seed or nut kolache. On the program will be the Beseda Dancers dancing traditional Czech folk dances in traditional costumes. Steve and Malia will perform some of their revue numbers, and Mario De Leon will play for your dancing pleasure. All this for the cost of $12 per adult, $6 per child 12 and under.

Welcome to our neighborhood - Phil Rafferty has moved here several months ago from Lodi, N.Y. He is an assistant superintendent for J.O. De Lotto and Son Construction Co.

On Feb. 18, at Spring Hill Regional Hospital, Alynna Caroline Kay Worth made her debut at 1:24 p.m. She weighed 5 pounds 13.7 ounces and was 18 ½ inches long. Her proud parents are Dan Worth and Shanlynn Bowman, and her big brothers are Michael Bowman 16, Christian Bowman 10, Caleb Bowman 9, Zackary Bowman 8, Jodan Bowman 6, and Jace Worth 3. Proud grandparents are Kerry and Pam Goelz. Baby and mommy are doing well and Daddy is tired!

On sick call are: Linda Lovelady spent Valentine's Day and several more days at home sick in bed; Alma Franklin is in Brooksville Regional Hospital; and Chuck Premorel had an out-patient procedure done at Oak Hill Hospital.

Cassie Baier's birthday was Feb. 13, and her family helped her celebrate last weekend. On Feb. 16 at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, they went to see a comedy show featuring comedian Ron White. Joining Cassie and hubby Michael "Cricket" Baier were her sister Cheryl and her husband Terry Blunk, along with their friends Pam and Steve from Englewood. The second celebration was on Presidents' Day: They joined Cricket's sister Kimbo Talkington and her daughter Halli Talkington from Plant City and Cricket's mom Sandy Baier from Tampa. This group went to a Van Halen concert at the St. Pete Time's Forum. She had a happy 21st birthday.

Roy Spring and his friend Danny Donough were at the 50th anniversary Daytona 500 last Sunday.

Russ Bourdon had an interesting week. He works out of state and comes home on weekends, and last Saturday he and his son Jared went to Disney World. Russ' sister Janna Hebner and her 16-year-old daughter Katy were coming in from Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss., where she works for the Department of Defense, and they were going to visit mom/grandma Rose Chepon in Altamonte Springs. Now you have to know Janna and Katy have been living in Ansback, Germany for the past 16 years. They recently just came stateside, settled in a bit and going to visit Rose.

Happy birthdays to: Paul Smith, Feb. 17; Anthony Bartilucci of Spring Hill celebrated his third birthday, Feb. 23; Ruth Wampler, David Kuka, Devon Kuka, Feb. 24; Igor Hucko, Mallory Hubert, Feb. 25; Nancy May, Elaine May, John Grotto, Feb. 27; Xilefny Sabater, Feb. 28.
