Fire guts doublewide

BROOKSVILLE - Two house fires in as many days are considered accidental, but their sources have yet to be determined.

A doublewide trailer at 25166 Camp Castle Road was gutted by fire shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday. No one was home at the time.

Fire Marshal Richard Tincher believes the fire started with a candle on the fireplace mantel, but he's going to review the photos one more time before making a final ruling.

The homeowners said they had trouble with electrical outlets recently, but Tincher didn't "see anything obviously wrong with them."

On Tuesday, fire destroyed a trailer in High Point, but earlier assumptions that it was faulty ductwork have proven wrong.

A repairman was doing work beneath 7524 First Circle Drive when smoke and heat drove him out.

He left the scene shortly after the arrival of first responders, but Tincher interviewed him upon his return.

The fire marshal found nothing amiss beneath the house, but plenty of evidence that points to the master bedroom.

He's narrowed the source down to a ceiling fan and a clip-on lamp on the bed.
