Band Teacher Charged With Engaging In Sex With Minor

SPRING HILL A Nature Coast High School band teacher is charged with two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a 17-year-old girl.
Timothy Robert Brightbill, 42, of 14987 Copeland Way, Spring Hill, was charged Wednesday by the Hernando County Sheriff's Office with performing oral sex on the victim and digitally penetrating the victim, who is a minor, according to a report.
The victim's mother arrived home at about 2:30 p.m. to find Brightbill wearing only underwear and lying on top of the victim in the victim's bedroom in a home located in Spring Hill, the report states.
The victim said Brightbill came to her home while no one else was there and both ended up in her bedroom, the report states. Both Brightbill and victim were wearing only underwear and Brightbill penetrated her with his fingers, according to the report. The victim said during November that Brightbill did perform oral sex on her and digitally penetrated her, the report states.
Brightbill was taken into custody and transported to Hernando County Jail. Bond was set at $10,000 and he was given a Jan. 27 court date.
