Identity Theft Suspect Cashing Forged Checks

Authorities are searching for a suspect linked to a series of identity thefts in the Tampa Bay area.

In Hernando County, the suspect cashed forged checks at two Capital City banks on Dec. 5. He is using a Florida driver's license belonging to Michael Ringwald, but the person in bank photos doesn't appear to match Ringwald's description, according to the sheriff's office.

The victim in the Hernando cases is Pasco County's Dream Catcher Homes. So far, the suspect has stolen $2,501.32 using forged checks.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the subject can call the Hernando County Sheriff's Office at 352-754-6830, Detective Jeff Kraft. Or if you want to remain anonymous, call Hernando County Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-866-990-8477. You may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
