Local Churches Holding New Year's Services

New Year's Eve services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Masaryktown, Wednesday, regular worship service at 7 p.m.

At St. Mary Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Mass will be 4 p.m. on New Year's Eve. On New Year's Day, Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. At Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Wednesday worship service begins at 7 p.m. For more information, call 796-4066.

Joan Kuka enjoyed Christmas Day dinner with the whole family at the home of her eldest son, Daniel and his wife JoAnn. They were joined by son Joel, his wife Melanie, and their twin daughters Kim and Melody. Everyone had a great day.

A thank you to all who attended the children's Christmas party last Sunday at the Community Hall. Chaired by Niki Levesque and Larry Dodson, and Santa Claus was there (aka Dr. Ned Cole). Everyone had a great time.

Annual town meeting will be on Jan. 18 at 2 p.m. at the Masaryktown Community Hall on Lincoln Avenue. Office seats open are: president, treasurer and director.

Get well wishes to Rachael Steffanelli who was in Brooksville Regional Hospital and is now home recovering.

We welcome to town a new store in a new plaza on Ayers Road and U.S. 41 (Broad Street). The new shop is "Daylight Donuts"; and new owners are Amy and Lorenzo Delgado, who bring 22 years of experience. Everything is freshly baked every day. They start baking at 1 a.m., and hours are 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. They offer doughnuts, muffins, coffee, and a full breakfast menu; lunch comes later. There is sit-down available, and every police officer on duty while they are open can stop in for a free cup of coffee. The Delgados have been in Florida for seven years, coming from Brooklyn, N.Y. Wedding anniversary wishes to: Daniel and Rachael Stefanelli, Jan. 1; Ron and Sophia Medente, Jan. 2; Sherm and Charm Havens, Dec. 31. They are the ones who were married in the Grand Canyon - bride, groom, chaplain, two witnesses and the pilot; wedding cake and all. Then up and out of the canyon, on to San Diego to the yacht club that Sherm is a member of for the reception. On the first anniversary, these two gadabouts were in Helsinki, Finland, to see the Northern Lights. I wonder what anniversary No. 2 will hold.

P.S. Among the many Christmas holiday celebrations, this was an especially memorable one for Hernando Today Correspondent Terezka Olson. For the first time in almost 10 years, Terezka had Christmas dinner at the family table. Joined by her daughter Melanie, son Jimmy, Melanie's fiance Gregg and his parents Richard and Anita, all enjoyed homemade lasagna, antipasto salad and several desserts. A Christmas miracle? Maybe!
