Teen Reportedly Whipped For Air Freshener Use

BROOKSVILLE - A 13-year-old boy was reportedly whipped with a belt for using too much air freshener.

The victim told deputies Saturday that Robert Archbell Jr. had come home and questioned him about the empty can of air freshener in the house. The victim denied he had used any, but was struck multiple times with a belt by Archbell for allegedly abusing the air freshener, a report states.

A deputy, noting the welts on the victim's arm and back, charged Archbell, 34, with child abuse.

Traffic Stop Leads To Marijuana Seizure

BROOKSVILLE - Police say they seized 37.4 grams of marijuana during a traffic stop Sunday, along with the prescription drug Ritalin.

Charged with possession of marijuana over 20 grams and a controlled substance in connection with the traffic stop at Harvard Avenue and Ponce De Leon Boulevard are Christy Beckham, 30, and Andrew Garrett, 31, both of 19435 Fort Dave Ave.

K-9 Alert Leads To Misdemeanor Citation

BROOKSVILLE - A drug-sniffing dog's keen sense of smell led to the arrest of Michael Taylor on Sunday, police say.

Taylor was pulled over for the tinted windows on his pickup truck and a K-9 alerted when it circled the truck, according to a report.

Police searched the truck and said they found 4.4 grams of marijuana. Taylor, 22, of 707 Hazel Ave., was given a misdemeanor citation for its possession.

Arrest Follows Loud Music Traffic Stop

BROOKSVILLE - Loud music led to the arrest of a 20-year-old man on a charge of resisting an officer without violence.

Travis Bartlett, of 11310 Eskimo Curlew Road, was stopped for the music coming from his vehicle, which was audible from more than 75 feet away, a report states.

Bartlett refused to hand over his driver's license, so he was arrested and additionally given a city citation for loud music.
