There's still time to attend a seminar aimed at teaching homeowners how to avoid the common pitfalls of landscaping.

The Hernando County Utilities Department and Citizens for Water will present a free course titled "Avoiding the Most Common Landscaping Mistakes" from 10 a.m. to noon today at the Hernando County Utilities Department, 21030 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville.

Jim Moll, horticulture agent with the IFAS Hernando County Cooperative Extension Service, will offer tips for accomplishing a successful landscape maintenance plan, including proper watering, fertilizing, mowing, plant selection, planting and pruning.

Light refreshments will be served.

It's the second session of the 2008-09 Hernando County Water Awareness series. For more information, call the utilities department at 754-4037.
