Cold Front Could Bring More Rain

It was clear, sunny and warm in the morning Sunday.

By 2 p.m., it had turned quickly into a wintry day filled with high winds, chilly temperatures and steady rainfall.

A cold front from the northwest caused the abrupt change in weather, said Tom Dougherty, a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Ruskin.

The cold front won't be leaving the area during the next couple days.

The high in Brooksville today will be 65 degrees. On Tuesday, the high will be stuck at 58 degrees, said Dougherty. There also will be a lot of cloud cover.

"A low-pressure system could bring some showers to the area," said AccuWeather meteorologist Andy Mussoline. "It's going to be cloudy for most of the day, but the rains could come at night."

Sunday's changing weather caused most of the state to be under a tornado watch for much of the afternoon.

Today's weather will be "much quieter" by comparison, said Mussoline.

Hernando County also was under a wind advisory until 6 p.m. Some of the gusts reached 30 miles per hour, but no damage was reported in Brooksville or Spring Hill.

There was some minor tree damage in Citrus County, Dougherty said.

The weather will get warmer Wednesday and Thursday. The high temperatures will be in the mid-60s and low 70s, respectively, according to AccuWeather.

Before it warms up Wednesday, Brooksville will be under another freeze warning Tuesday night. Lows are expected to be in the high 20s.
