Nazdar,

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on U.S. 41 south has several projects they need supplies for: for the Ministry Center food pantry, they need: peanut butter, jams and jellies, 16 oz. canned veggies, canned meats, canned fruits, especially cans of soup of all kinds, and other nonperishable items.

In June and July, they helped 139 families (over 300 people) and the need is rising every month. On Sept. 14, they will have a dinner to raise funds; more details to follow. Also need school supplies for the troops to give to Iraq's children, game peg boards, Ty toys, subject notebooks, steno books, composition books, color and activity books, note paper, pencils, sharpeners, colored pencils, packs of crayons (24 preferred) school bags, construction paper, erasers, etc. There will be a flea market and bake sale on Oct. 18; more to follow.

An Alcoholics Anonymous meeting is held each Monday at 7 p.m. in the Ministry Center next door to the church; it is an open meeting and anyone can attend.

They are also working on an Al Anon Group that would meet at the same place and time so affected families could attend together.

The first year of the death of Lois Bendleheim's 37-year-old son Jason Chorvat was on Aug. 1, or as the family refers to it, "Jay Day."

This Jay Day was at son/brother Dusty Chorvat's and his fiance Lori Mulligan's new home that they just bought in South Carolina.

Joining them were Lois and her two sisters Nancy Zeigler and Sara Zeigler and her niece Debbie Garcia of Odessa for the four-day weekend. They wrote a message, placed it in a bottle with some of Jason's remains and sent it out to sea. This past Sunday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, a spiritual memorial was held for Jay with family and friends attending. After services, Lois had chocolate cake, Jay's favorite, for the congregation. Then later, Lois hosted about 20 family members to lunch at her home.

Sympathies to the family of Sandy Donelson who died Aug. 4 at Spring Hill Regional Hospital and was 65 years old. Born in Flint, Mich., and came here 35 years ago.

She was a schoolteacher at Hernando High for many years, a fellow sister of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW, belonging to Post 8681.

She is survived by her late husband Jimmy "A and P" Donelson, her son Dallas Pingel of Bristol, Tenn., her mom Annie Burley of Davidson, Mich., a sister Shirley Winnick of Burton, Mich., and two grandsons. Goodbye, good friend.

Not to forget Aug. 31 from 3 p.m. til... at the Masaryktown Community Center on Lincoln Avenue, a Labor Day celebration sponsored by the Masaryktown Activities Committee.

All proceeds will go to Lea's Prayers and Postage, which enables the postage for all the many packages sent to our troops in war zones.

There will be food, sodas, and beer for purchase - proper identification will be required to purchase beer.

There will also be a Chinese auction, many other activities, and a musical cavalcade.

Special guest Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite will be on hand, and much, much more. A $5 donation is suggested for adults, and children are free.

Happy Birthdays to: Shirley Fowle, Glen Baker, Aug. 17; Helen Parsolano, Aug. 18; Christopher Dennis, Aug. 19; David Biggers, Aug. 21; Steve Voscinar and twin sister Josie Malloch, Aug. 22; Eric Forerman, Aug. 23.
