With Tropical Storm Fay zeroing on Florida, Gov. Charlie Crist declared a state of emergency Saturday afternoon.
The storm hit the Dominican Republic Saturday and is expected to strike the West Coast of Florida Tuesday and Wednesday.
Forecasters said Fay could become a Category 1 or 2 hurricane by the time it reaches Florida and could bring winds of up to 100 miles per hour.
Fay is the sixth storm to form in the Atlantic basin this season.
