Carl Arthur Marcks, 95, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Aug. 6. He was born in Nazareth, Pa.
Mr. Marcks was a Naval officer in the Atlantic fleet during World War II. After the war, he joined the Naval Air Systems Command and for 30 years he designed air-sea rescue systems. He was an internationally recognized authority on air crew systems and was honored with the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award, the second highest award presented to government employees. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Survivors include his wife, Mayme Alice; three children, Drew of Austin, Texas, Dale of St. Petersburg and Tina of Hill City, S.D.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Harry William "Bill" Supinger, 85, of Brooksville, died Monday, Aug. 11, at home. He was born in Christiansburg, Ohio, and moved to this area 22 years ago from Piqua, Ohio.
Mr. Supinger was a U.S. Army veteran, worked with the Salvation Army and was an active member of the 3 Seasons Mobile Home Park.
Survivors include two sons, Steven Supinger of Piqua and Ronald Fair of Beverly Hills; four daughters, Marqueritte Stutzman and Rebecca Root, both of Brooksville, Valerie Fosnight of Piqua and Roxanne Sampley of Tipp City, Ohio; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Leonard R. DeCava, 81, of Spring Hill, died Monday, Aug. 11, at Spring Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center, Brooksville. He moved to this area 23 years ago from Trumbull, Conn.
Mr. DeCava was an auto mechanic and the owner/operator of an auto shop. He was a race car driver, "Red Ray" No. 3 car, and was featured several times in the Wide World of Sports for boat racing on the Hudson River. He was past president of the United National Italian Community Organization (UNICO), a Volunteer Fireman, Oxford, Conn., and attended St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
Survivors include a son, Richard DeCava of Spring Hill; two daughters, Faith Frame of Spring Hill and Jane DiMauro of Bolton, Conn.; a brother, James DeCava of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Marion Corvino of Stafford, Conn.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Gerald D. Elrod, 82, of Spring Hill, died Monday, Aug. 11, at Oak Hill Hospital. He was born in Manchester, Tenn., and moved to this area 25 years ago from South Bend, Ind.
Mr. Elrod worked for the automotive industry. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Elks Lodge 2520 of Aripeka, Hudson, VFW Post 8681 of Spring Hill, American Legion Post 186 and the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta; two sons, Robert and Dennis Elrod; a daughter, Jeannette Clark; two stepdaughters, Sharon Utrias and Kathryn Phebus; and three grandchildren.
