Irene Powers, 99, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, July 30, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville. She was born in Philadelphia, Miss., and moved to this area 70 years ago from Holder.
Mrs. Powers was a homemaker, a member of First United Methodist Church for over 50 years and a former member of the United Methodist Women's Guild.
Survivors include two sons, Jack D. Alligood of Lake Whales and Roy Powers of Brooksville; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mallie Lee Smith, 57, of Brooksville, died Friday, July 25, at his home.
Mr. Smith was born in Brooksville and was a lifelong resident.
Survivors include two brothers, Willie D. Smith of Utica, N.Y., and Ernest Smith of Jacksonville; and three sisters, Emma Lee Everett of Brooksville, Juanita Barrow of Jamaica, N.Y., and Leona Thompson of Bradenton.

Dan Douglas, 75, of Lehigh Acres, formerly of Brooksville, died Friday, July 25. He was born in Brooksville and lived most of his life in Brooksville.
Mr. Douglas was a member of the Church of the Living God, Hernando.
Survivors include his wife, Florence of Inverness; three daughters, Linda Faye Williams, Cora Lee Jackson and Renee Douglas Reeves, all of Fort Myers; a brother, Minister Odell Douglas of Utica, N.Y.; two sisters, Rev. Georgia Mae McCalop of Brooksville and Flora Latham of Pompano Beach; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mary Wolgamuth, 81, of Brooksville, died Sunday, July 27, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville. She was born in Findlay, Ohio, and moved to this area 22 years ago from Holden, Mass.
Mrs. Wolgamuth was a bookkeeper and a member of the Eastern Star-Spring Hill Chapter 323, the Shrine Guild of America-Yasmin Shrine, Spring Hill, and Mariner United Methodist Church, Spring Hill.
Survivors include her husband, Robert D. a son, Scott Wolgamuth of San Francisco, Calif.; a sister, Pamela Weaver of Custar, Ohio; and a brother, Darryl Sherbrook of Findlay.

Michael Owen McGurl, 50, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, July 30, at Oak Hill Hospital. He was born in Bronx, New York, and moved to this area 20 years ago from Illinois.
Mr. McGurl was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the VFW and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his mother, Helen McGurl of Spring Hill; a sister, Maureen Ciurciu of Greensbrook, N.J.; a brother, Thomas McGurl of Brooksville; and two nephews.

Joseph Thomas McKnight, of Weeki Wachee, died Thursday, July 31, at the Corrigan Place, Spring Hill. He was born in New York, N.Y., and moved to this area 33 years ago from New York.
Mr. McKnight retired after 28 years as an installation supervisor for the telephone company and was a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include three sons, Joseph T. McKnight Jr., Terrence E. McKnight and Stephen W. McKnight; and four grandchildren.
