FORT LEWIS, Wash. - Shelane Etchison recently completed Army Officer Leadership training at Warrior Forge, Fort Lewis, Washington. The 33 day course consisted of vigorous physical and mental challenges designed to prepare American soldiers for modern warfare in the 21{+s}{+t} century. The graduates of the program were honored to be addresses by Major General Montague W. Winfield who summoned them to meet the challenges and responsibilities that await them as defenders of the country.
Shelane is a graduate of Central High School where she was in the leadership of the POTC program under Lt Colonel Michael Ralph (retired). She is completing her senior year at Central Florida University in Orlando where she is studying for a degree in liberal arts and military science. Lt. Colonel Brice Christensen, the head of the military science program at Central Florida University and shown in the picture with Etchison at Fort Lewis, also attended the ceremony.
Shelane is the daughter of Don and Sheila Etchison and granddaughter of Cordell Etchison McVay of Spring Hill.
