Dawn Center's art contest to be judged next Thursday

Mark your calendars to attend the gallery viewing and judging of student artwork submitted for the Dawn Center's third annual Art Contest from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan 21 at Challenger K-8 School of Science and Math, 13400 Elgin Blvd., Spring Hill 34609.

Everyone is invited to come to on to see how Hernando youngsters are encouraging healthy relationships through art. Judges will be looking for creativity, content of message and artistic execution. Competition was open to Hernando County eighth- to 12-graders. Three placings will be awarded with the first place winner winning a new savings account at Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union with a starting balance of $300, second prize will be a $200 savings account and the third place winner will receive a $100 savings account.

Winners will be announced on Jan. 21 with a special reception planned for Feb. 18 at Brooksville City Hall from 5 to 7 p.m.
