We Wish You A Happy And Safe Holiday

For all of the families who will be welcoming a new furry friend into your family this holiday, congratulations. This new family member will bring you years of joy and love. Please remember that a little work now in training your new pet properly will make life much more pleasant for all of you.

As you open presents be aware that ribbons, tinsel and packaging can be a health hazard to a new pup or kitten. Do not leave these items with your pet unattended. They are easily swallowed and are not digestible. Many a pet has seen the inside of the emergency clinic on Christmas day due to holiday trimmings.

Also, be advised that while your holiday dinner is fabulous for you, your pet has a totally different nutritional requirement. Be sure to stock up on proper pet treats rather than sharing your ham or turkey with your pets. Their bodies cannot handle these foods well and you could have a very sick pet on your hands, as well as a mess to clean up on your lovely carpet.

Keep your pets safe and happy this holiday season.

Regardless of the holiday we celebrate this time of year, the hope for peace, joy and love is universal. This is the time of year we take specialcare to remember our family and friends and share good wishes for the coming year.

On behalf of the Humane Society of the Nature Coast and animal shelters throughout our community, Happy Holidays and thank you to all our friends, staff, volunteers and donors for making the world a better place for the homeless pets of our community. We are grateful to all of the businesses who have donated products and services to help homeless pets in need. We bless the volunteers who have given so much of theirtime to enhance the lives of pets without homes. We appreciate every personal donation received - every donation helps to save a life.

On behalf of animal lovers throughout the community, thank you toHernando Today/The Tampa Tribune for sponsoring 'For Pet's Sake.' It has become a valuable resource to the community and to the welfare of pets.

We count our blessings as we think of all the homeless pets who have found forever homes in 2007 and hope you will remember the homeless pets who will need your help in the coming year.

May the coming year bring peace and joy to each of you and a prosperous and healthy new year for the animals of our community. Happy Holiday!
