From left to right: George Reilly, a new Board member, will be the club's Secretary replacing John Lubertowicz, who resigned after eight years of service to the club. George spent 47 years in the Maritime industry, last he was Vice President of Marine Personnel and Trustee of the multi million Dollar Labor/Management Benefit Plan.
Michael Sexton is joining the Board as Vice President. He has spent 35 years in the telecommunications industry, where he dealt with computers and networking. Michael was a design engineer developing wide area networks for Fortune 100 companies worldwide. He also taught computers, computer programming, and data networking to technicians and managers. Michael feels that teaching people something they want to know is both a privilege and honor. He has a Masters of Science degree in Adult Learning and Development and he is an instructor at The Club.
Brigitte Haag, is returning as Education Director for her second term in that position, matching up members' needs with classes and instructor availability. She is also an instructor. In her past she was a school teacher for science and math and later owned a manufacturing business.
Nancy Sexton is joining the Board as Program Director. She will be planning the monthly Membership Meetings and other activities. Nancy owned a computer consulting business advising companies in computer use and trained personnel. Nancy enjoys helping people develop a comfort level with computers so it is a natural fit for her to also be an instructor at The Club.
Don Karslake, a director in his second year was and will continue to be President of the Hernando Computer Club. Prior to moving to Florida five years ago, Don was a Sales & Marketing Consultant for public corporations as well as private companies.
Jean Hook, a new Board Member, she will be the new Membership Director, replacing Paul Lutz, who retired from the board after many years of club involvement. For many years Jean owned a successful restaurant business and brings a lot of practical common sense to the club's management. It is a complicated task to manage the many volunteers that run a club.
Ron Purkhiser, a director in his second year, continues as the club's Facility Director, is in charge of all computers and electronic equipment as well as software installation. He is also an instructor. After a State accredited apprenticeship program at The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, he worked there 40 years as a certified welder and trainer.He also started and operated a small electronics repair center in addition to his work at Goodyear.
Lorraine Backey, a director in her third year, serves as treasurer for the club. She was Corporate Secretary for an industrial motion picture and television production company and later established and ran the first Word Processing Center for United Airlines at their executive offices.
