You don't have to travel all the way to New York to enjoy the music of Broadway.
The Hernando Symphony Orchestra will be performing music of many popular Broadway musicals this weekend, such as "The King and I," "Ragtime," "Miss Saigon," "Sweet Charity," "The Lion King," "Evita," "Oklahoma!," "La Cage Aux Folles" and "Les Misérables."
Performances will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Hernando High School Performing Arts Center, located at 700 Bell Ave, Brooksville. Two more performances will be held on Sunday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Springstead High Theater, 3300 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill.
The Hernando Orchestra Symphony will feature guest vocalists Victoria Primosch, Jacob Rice and Julia Rifino.
Michele DiLuzio, assistant conductor of the Hernando Symphony, explained that the guest vocalists will sing with the orchestra from the musical medleys chosen from "Wicked," "Oklahoma!," "The Lion King" and "Les Miserables."
"The arrangements are put together very well. They are crowd pleasing arrangements," said DiLuzio. "The audience really likes Broadway tunes."
Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for students in grades K-12. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Advance ticket purchase is available at Stage West, located at 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and the following Tuesday.
