For some, music has a way of lifting your spirits, soothing away life's troubles. Add a party, and you've got a reason to put a smile on your face.
Downtown Brookville is aiming to do just that with its Brooksville Bash "Night Under the Oaks" street festival on Main Street tomorrow night from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Come out and enjoy a fun-filled night of entertainment with Brooksville's own local talented musicians, the Tyler Creek Road band.
The Tyler Creek Road band members include lead guitarist Dave Shepard, Trent Sholl on bass guitar, Ken Grube on drums, and vocalists Elliott Ambrose and Heather Gillis. The band merges southern rock, country, and blues into their overall sound.
Some of you may know band member Elliot Ambrose through his day job as an attorney in downtown Brooksville.
Jackie Ambrose, Elliot's wife, chuckled, "He's a rock star by night. He's an amazing writer too."
In addition, country singer Brian Chytka, (pronounced Hit-ka), will perform at the Brooksville Bash. Chytka grew up in Brooksville and is a graduate of Hernando High School.
Chytka received the Rising Star award in 2005 and Most Promising Male Entertainer in 2006 at the North American Country Music Association International competitions in Tennessee.
The lively music entertainment will be on stage in front of the Hernando County courthouse under the oaks located at 20 N. Main St., downtown Brooksville.
Tammy Heon, tourism development coordinator for Hernando County, explained that the Market on Main Street vendors will have extended hours and will stay until 7 p.m. for the Brooksville Bash street festival. Local business will stay open late for the event too. Event goers can shop for crafts, jewelry, food, produce, and home décor items while listening to some great music.
