In September 1960, Nikita Khrushchev said to the United Nations, "We will bury America." It looks like our ruling class is proving him right.
Limited government, private property, free enterprise and personal responsibility are intrinsic characteristics of our Constitution, which are diametrically opposed to the Marxist egalitarian utopian approach, "from each according to his ability to each according to his needs." These are incompatible political systems. Yet many of our politicians and citizens seem unaware of this threat.
Americans, like almost all people, want to live in peace. Our personal priorities are usually advancing our families and careers. Few want to think about our nation's military security from enemies within or from foreign invasions. It is much more comforting to avoid harsh reality than to face it. Ignorance may be bliss but often leads to tragedy.
Our current naïve and dangerous policy of treating our adversaries as friends to encourage peace defies reality. The U.S. and any self-proclaimed Marxist regime could be bosom buddies only if one or the other or both discards its political roots.
According to the present administration and the media, Communism is no longer a viable threat. The 10 Russian spies who were swapped for four U.S. spies illustrates there is still distrust and fundamental differences between the two political systems.
In the same month of the spy exchange, Kendall and Gwendolyn Myers received life sentences for spying for Cuba. They engaged in spying out of the State Department for three decades. This incident received practically nonexistent press coverage.
America is at a pivotal moment in its history. The recent administration is turning its back on traditional allies such as Great Britain and Israel while appeasing and favoring Russia, China and Venezuela. A new world order is attempting to be forged.
Chavez, Fidel, Putin are held up as cuddly teddy bear figures like "Uncle Joe Stalin" was in World War II. Che Guevara and Mao T-shirts are worn by celebrities, ignorant young people and baby boomers without any recognition or knowledge of the evil, murderous deeds they committed. C-Span recently gave the U.S. Communist party air time to spew its propaganda and even a few "CP-US" T-shirts are beginning to appear in public.
The Obama Administration has appointed many "czars" who are socialist/Communist proponents. Ed Montgomery, auto recovery czar; Cameron Davis, great lakes czar; Gary Samore, WMD policy czar; Van Jones, former Green Jobs Czar and recess appointment, Dr. Donald Berwick, head of the controversial health care program, are in line with Marxist philosophy. More than 30 czars and other radical appointments were made with little or no transparency without the advice and consent of Congress.
This cozy relationship with communist strategy and ideals is threatening our very survival as a free nation. We need an open and frank debate on this serious issue. Senator Joseph McCarthy warned us about the infiltration of our government and media by the communist party in the 1950s. He was ridiculed as a mad man and dismissed as a hate monger by the media.
Martin Dies, Democrat, from Texas in 1937 created a special committee on Un-American activities to determine if communists were in the government. Sen. Joe McCarthy, member of the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1950-1954, exposed the infestation of many communists in government and the media. He was censured in 1954 by the U.S. Senate.
The Venona Papers, secret Russian documents declassified and released in 1995, showed that most people identified by McCarthy were communist sympathizers. He was proven right, but few people realized many of those identified sympathizers, like the Myers, have for years been imbedded in every federal branch of government. The numerous leaks of secret information show the pervasiveness of federal personnel following their own radical agenda.
The recent JournoList scandal has shown 400 educators, commentators and reporters to be Democrat progressives and political operatives. Our media is in a critical position as the fourth estate to undermine the principles upon which our republic is based. Instead of performing their essential role as watchdogs of politicians they have become political hacks.
The JournoList politics of destruction and the support of the current concepts advocated by this administration of social justice and collective salvation should send up red flags to any discerning person. These concepts have been employed by communist radicals to foment revolution throughout the world for decades.
America is a center-right nation. At this crucial time in our history, our government officials and representatives have to foster our system or we will lose it. We must ask all elected officials, government employees, including teachers, to take an oath and declare their allegiance to the Constitution. Those who reject commitment to our system should immediately be removed from their position. This is not mean-spiritedness. It is survival.
Government officials have dangerous access, ability and capacity to advance their political agenda over the interest of the people. Any teacher has the power to subtly influence the minds of impressionable students by teaching revisionist history and blatant propaganda. We need transparency to have an honest exchange of real differences between two radically opposed systems of governing people.
Communists have every constitutional protection to persuade people to their viewpoint but have no right to subvert our Constitution through the power of public office.
Patriots must stand up for our beliefs or wake up like Cuba did in 1961. After two years of Castro denying he was a communist sympathizer, he declared to the majority of his unaware citizens that Cuba was indeed a communist nation.
