BROOKSVILLE - Residents can get a glimpse of what public transportation in Hernando County might look like in the next 10 years by attending Tuesday's meeting of the Metropolitan Planning Organization.
The MPO has assembled a transit development plan that will get reviewed by MPO members.
Some of the planned transit options in the draft involve THE Bus and include expanding service to Pasco County, with a drop-off on U.S. 19 still to be determined. There is also a plan to start a route to service the Hernando County Airport during peak hours.
Members will also review the timetables for road improvements to area highways.
During a workshop following the regular meeting, Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority Executive Director Bob Clifford will give a report on his group's latest master plan which outlines how county roads, rail and bus fit into the entire Tampa Bay region.
The MPO meeting begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Hernando County Government Center, 20 North Main St. in downtown Brooksville. The workshop is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the same location.
