hhgregg to open in Brooksville next month

BROOKSVILLE - The county's newest consumer electronics store is days away from announcing its opening date.
A company spokesman confirmed Monday that hhgregg, located at 13199 Cortez Blvd. in the Coastal Way Shopping Center, would open sometime in October.
Several of hhgregg stores are opening throughout the Tampa region, oftentimes filling the spaces left open by Circuit City, which failed to recover from bankruptcy.
The Brooksville hhgregg will occupy the space previously filled by the local Circuit City store, which closed in the spring.
There will be approximately 250 employees at all of the Tampa-area stores, with each store averaging between 30 to 45 workers, said Jason Chudoba, a company spokesman.
Many of those positions were filled during a recent job fair in Tampa, he said.
It is not known exactly how many would be working at the Brooksville store or how many vacant positions remain.
hhgregg has grown significantly in 2009, with scads of new stores opening up and down the Southeast. The company recently announced the appointments of new executives – from chief financial officer to executive vice president.
