BROOKSVILLE - Taxpayers have until Tuesday, Sept. 8, to file a petition with the Value Adjustment Board and appeal their tax assessment.
As of Tuesday, 21 people had filed a petition with the Value Adjustment Board. That compares to 79 this same time last year, said Nick Nikkinen, director of special projects for the property appraiser's office.
Property owners recently received their Truth in Millage (TRIM) notices from the property appraiser's office, which lists a property's current and prior year assessed value and any exemptions.
