BROOKSVILLE - Add another candidate to the growing number of Republicans seeking to dethrone Democrat Rose Rocco from her District 2 county commission seat.
Lewis Tumia of Spring Hill pre-qualified with the supervisor of elections office Wednesday, joining Republicans Wayne Dukes and William Kingeter.
Tumia, 64, has worked for five years as a plumbing inspector with the county. Prior to that, he said he was the owner of his own plumbing and heating company in his native Rochester, N.Y.
Tumia describes himself as a fiscal conservative who has the business background for the job.
"We need people who have the knowledge to run the county," he said.
So far, no other Democrat has filed to run against Rocco.
