Re: Doug Patton's column, "Health care bill about control not health care," in the Oct. 22 edition of Hernando Today.
I just read your article in Hernando Today and I am so sick of hearing people like you cutting down the efforts of the Obama administration at every turn.
First, the reason there are so many pages in the new government documents is because today if someone proposes a change, they have to cover every detail because there will always be someone to pick it apart. We can no longer do business with a handshake as they did in the past and we can no longer make changes in 28 pages either.
Second, if you do your homework, every country that has government-run health insurance has happy healthy people, who support their government. They also don't have homeless living on their streets, eating out of Dumpsters. We are the only country where people like yourself are more interested in what is in it for you than to take an interest in caring for those less fortunate than yourself.
You should be ashamed.
All Americans should be ashamed when our children are abused, women are beaten, and people are homeless and starving right here in our own country. We send our sons and daughters overseas to die for freedom for people in other countries, but we refuse to feed or educate the people who come over our boarders to find hope. Do you have any idea how many of those children we sent to fight our wars are now living on the streets, with no medical attention? They are swept under the rug.
Shame on us.
As far as regulating people, maybe that is a good idea to tell them what to eat and when to exercise. We are known worldwide as fat America because we are the most obese nation in the world. When people have self control they do not need to be regulated, but here it is all about instant gratification.
Personally, I think if someone is using the welfare system, we should regulate how many children they can have. Either that or limit the number the government will support. People abuse the system and that is why Social Security, welfare and Medicare are in trouble.
Doctors are the biggest offenders when they double bill or make up charges for Medicare to pay. I think it is time that someone regulated them and kept tabs on how far in the cookie jar doctors' hands go. It is suppose to be a profession of compassion. Years ago doctors worked for chickens or a home-made pie; they lived in simple homes the same as their patients. Look around, most of the big homes in our county are doctor-owned. It's all about the money - just like everything else in this country.
You should all be ashamed.
The reason the Republican Party is so against Obama is because they will no longer be able to rob the American people and line their pockets. It's the thieves in this country who want to see Obama fail. You are damn right we whine about fairness and security. It is time we stood up and took the freedom away from those who would get rich while the hard working people lose everything.
I almost danced when I saw what Obama has done to AIG. I bet you thought it was awful, didn't you?
